Corporate Responsibility Policy
Woodland Grange announces comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility strategy
Woodland Grange has published its policy on Corporate Social Responsibility. It defines a comprehensive approach to the challenge of integrating the demands of its business with the needs of the wider community. Embracing every aspect of the training and conference centre's activity, it is believed to represent a sector leading approach in terms of the way a business relates to the environment, the communities in which it operates, and how it contributes to sustainable development.
The policy recognises that Woodland Grange's obligations extend beyond statutory requirements, and that its business decisions cannot be made purely around financial factors. It commits to working with customers, colleagues, suppliers, the community and wider society to improve the quality of life currently and into the future.
It encapsulates all the actions that the centre already has in place, and sets specific targets for the future that will raise CSR performance to even higher levels.
The key principles supporting the policy are:
. To protect the environment through control of environmental risk
. To treat the workforce and stakeholders fairly and to promote awareness amongst these groups
. To only engage with suppliers who demonstrate a commitment to sustainability
. To conduct activities in an ethical fashion
. To promote best practice through the implementation of an internationally recognised environmental management system, namely ISO 14001
. To support and contribute to the community and be respected
The policy is split into six sections. In each of them, Woodland Grange can already point to significant progress, but is determined to do much more. The categories are
. Respect for the environment
. Healthy food and well-being
. Contributing to the community
. Sourcing with integrity
. Treating its people fairly
. A safe working environment
In each area, the policy defines practices that have already developed - including major initiatives in the areas of recycling, environmental systems, waste and pollution control, energy saving, healthy food, selective sourcing, direct support for the community, enlightened employment practices and the health and safety of employees and customers. In each of these areas, it also defines further development and where possible sets clear targets.
