Woodland Grange supports Marie Curie Cancer Care in its appeal for fundraising support
Woodland Grange is to host an open evening for Marie Curie Cancer Care on Monday 24th February from 7pm until 8pm. The charity is hoping to establish a new fundraising group in the Coventry and Warwickshire area and is appealing to local people to volunteer to join.
Cherida Plumb, Warwickshire community fundraiser for the charity, said: “We depend heavily on donations and we couldn’t do the work we are doing without the support of our community fundraising groups. We are looking for anyone who might be able to spare a couple of hours a week to help us to raise much-needed funds. It truly is a great way of doing something worth-while and having fun at the same time.
“We provide support to approximately 40,000 people each year but there are over 400,000 people seeking our help. The NHS currently provides 50 per cent of our funding, with the remainder being raised by local fundraising groups who really are ambassadors in their local community. They help spread the word about the work of Marie Curie, encouraging and supporting local people, clubs and organisations to fundraise for us too.”
Marie Curie Cancer Care nurses provide care to terminally ill people in their own homes or in the charity’s hospices, while offering support to their families. The charity has 2,000 nurses throughout the UK, with 19 of those working with terminally patients and their families in Warwickshire.
Cherida said: “We are very grateful to Woodland Grange for offering us this fantastic venue for our open evening and we hope that as many people as possible will come along to hear more about our work in the wonderful surroundings of Woodland Grange.
”This is a very timely event as we will be launching our annual Daffodil Appeal on 1st March, a major fundraising initiative for us, so it would be great to get a new team in place in the area to help raise vital funds to support our work.”
Woodland Grange is part of EEF Venues, recently named ‘No 1 Small Group’ and ‘Best Value for Money Group’ in the VenueVerdict Awards.
John Turpin, group operations manager for EEF Venues, said: “ It is our absolute pleasure to be hosting this event at our venue which is just a twenty minute drive from the M40, M42, M6 and M69 motorways. A warm welcome and freshly brewed coffee and tea awaits all who attend.”
